ASA5520 rebooting itself

I recently replaced my Pix525 ver 7.0 (4) to a ASA5520 ver 8.0(2)  failover Active/Active

Since replacing this, the Pri ASA will randomly reboot and failover to the standby.  There is no network disruptions.  The logs show nothing but 2009-04-27 11:24:49 Local4.Alert Apr 27 2009 11:24:49: %ASA-1-104001: (Primary) Switching to ACTIVE - HELLO not heard from mate.

We have no idea why this is happening.  I haven't read anything on ver 8.0(2) that would suggest this behaviour.

Are both systems running the same version code?   HAve you attempted to reload the IOS version on the failing unit?

Your description of the Active/failover process seems correct and it sounds like the 2nd appliance did its job and became active when the primary failed.

If this error recurs, then I suggest you open a TAC case with cisco, have the tech look at the log.    If this is a hardware failure, they can give you replacement options.   If you have a support contract, its all included.

Yes both systems are running the same code.  I don't think it's hardware because both ASA's reboot themseleves after becoming the primary.  The failover works great because there is no network disruption.

Not exactly this one.  But did experience similar problems in some other version where esmtp inspection was causing crashes.  With that knowledge could of cuz disable the inspection.

I'd say upgrade your software.  If you check the release notes just for 8.0(3), there are plenty of known traceback errors.  Chances are your's among them.
