update web site

what program do i use if i want to update my companies current web site?  i need to ad something to post on it.  thanks!!

Hi JerseyGiant,

You can use any HTML editing program (Dreamweaver, ExpressionWeb, CoffeeCup, etc) or even just plain old Notepad if you know HTML.  

The real trick is that you need to know how to access the web server so you can retrieve and put the files.

Nope.  Editing generally takes place locally if we are talking about an ISP-hosted site.  There are some mild exceptions to this depending on how the site was created (using a CMS system, for instance) that would allow editing directly on the server.

FTP access would be the minimum.  The IP gets you nothing.  You need a user account with permissions...
