Hi,
have you normally been able to see that printer?  Is it offline to the clients that are using it?

Can you go to the web interface of the printer and see if it is communicating (http://printer_IPaddress)?

Trying pinging the printer to see if you have any communications with it.  If it is grey then it is most likely a network issue or the print server is pointing to an incorrect IP address under the printer settings.  Verify that you have the correct IP address for the printer on the print server.  If the printer is on site then go to the printer and see if it is off or offline.  Check the cable connection and the switch port.  Check the port on the back of the printer to ensure that it is linked.  Go through the I/O settings of the printer and ensure that the correct IP address and mask is set.  Do a cold reset of the printer and re-input all of the IP information, ping the printer, delete the printer driver and the IP port, re-add the printer back on the server.

A Myriad of issues could be causing this.  I have listed just a few things that you should start with to give you an idea of the problem.

I installed the latest driver and switched off SNMP. I can print a test page but it still says its offline. I can also ping the ip address.

Thanks

Right click the installed printer and click "Use Printer On-line"

The only option is to use printer offline. Any other things I should be looking at?

I've also switched off SNMP on the driver as well. The offline status has disappeared but the job wont print.

How many printers on the printer server?

If a lot then do this after hours, if just a few then go ahead and try this.

Restart your print spooler service. This may cause a few people to have to log off and log back in in order to connect to the printer, but this was going to happen anyway.

I found that disabling bi-directional support helps as well.

I have seen this as well, but it was when a USB print server was attached.

I resolved the problem by re-installing the driver, switching off snmp and restarting the server.
