Lost Admin Password for a Neoware Thin-Client #KF252AT#ABA

I bought this refurbished Neoware Thin-Client (#KF252AT#ABA) from CDW but the previous user had password protected the settings. When it boots up it displays "Please enter the appliance password".

The OS is NeoLinux.

How can I reset the password or otherwise access the device?

The machine does not respond to <Shift>+<Alt>+<F2>.

I attempted that key combination at every screen change during startup, including when it prompts for the password.

I noticed that the machine displays a message that it is attempting to connect to classrooms.augsburg.edu so I sent an email to the college's IT dept. requesting either a password or knowledge about how to reset the password or bios.

I found the fix at the HP.com site via Google.

1) Restart the NeoLinux appliance.
2) On power on hold down the Shift key.
3) From the LILO Boot Menu type "software single" and press Enter.
4) After about 15 seconds press <Alt> + <F2>.
5) From bash# type "factory_reset" and press Enter.
6) Type /sbin/reboot and press Enter.
