Speed Up Compilation in Visual Studio .NET 2005?

Ok, you must forgive me as I'm going outside of my realm of experience/expertise, but I have an issue with the time it takes for our developers to compile new installers for an application:

Depending on the type of machine, it can range anywhere from 5min to 15 min to create the installer MSI. Is this normal behavior or is there anything that I can do to speed up their processes? These are pretty beefy desktops with 4GB of RAM and Dual or Quad Core Duo CPUs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a very frustrating issue for developers indeed, we used to have this problem in our environment, but we addressed it .
The machines configuration you mentioned is solid, but we need to think of the running software besides VS2005 , IIS,SQL server , etc.. ?, disable what is not used , since VS on its own is hungry for resources as well.
I have also found that setting up Antivirus exclusions for the build directories, Asp.net folder & other .NET related folders helps greatly in speeding up the build process, you also need to ensure lots of disk space is available.

hope this helps.

This is basically how we have our machines setup, with the AV exclusions as well. I'm just a little disappointed that it takes so long and there really isn't a mechanism for speeding it up.
