SBS2008 RPC Error

Hi,

We have a sbs2008 with 70 users. This server are hosting at a datacenter and users access exchange using rpc. At this morning, RPC stops work, but over services - IMAP, POP3, SMTP, OWA, works fine. I make some tests using www.testexchangeconnectivity.com and results are some errors at 6001/6004.

I make some changes by sugest at internet:

Before this errors i have made a change at web.config find at internet with this sugestion, and restart IIS.

At web.config in C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Bin\webapp\SBS Web Applications

i change this entries:

After this changes, i have an errors at event viewer about DistributedCOM Event ID 10016 and testexchangeconnectivity change errors to:

Testing TCP Port 443 on host email.latinamericahotels.com.br to ensure it is listening/open.

Why don't you run the Internet connection wizard?

HI,

When i try to run Wizard, i have a message warning alert to any modify can affect SSL certificate. This changes can be stops other services? Ex: IMAP, POP and SMTP are work fine, with Cert.

Then you could choose the option of keeping the existing SSL Certificate if this certificate is from a CA.

Before run a wizard, i make a backup and shutdown server. After restart server RPC return without problems. During operation today, i have same problem again, rpc unavailable, but with different error. now error are referent a port 6001/6004 with IPV6. Running testexchangeconnectivity again, the solution are to run rollup 4, but i have install a rollup 7. I will try to install rollup 7 again.

My problem return at same point... or at testing connectivity i have an error A Web Exception occured because an HTTP 401 - Unauthorized response was received from Unknown.

After a shutdown and power on server again, this problems disapears, but RPC/HTTP after some hours return same problems, stop ping rpc, etc...

What error are you having in the event log regarding this problem?
Take a look at the event viewer something else is causing it to stop working.

No error messages at event viewer, it´s the problem. Today i do nothing, don´t shutdown server or anything and services are work fine. When users try to use rpc/http 2 or more users the problem start again.

I can´t find errors at connections to the server, because owa works fine.

Any ideia?

When you say rpc/http,
Do you mean RPC over HTTP?
If so how many user cals do you have on the SBS server and how many users do you have total?

Yes, RPC/Over HTTP. We have 30 Cals and 70 users at total. I don´t think this is an error. This SBS are using only to email server and acess to this exchange are make by owa and outlook anywhere.

That is your problem. once you have 30 simultaneous connection, the 31rst one get denied.
If your are using web access that's not a problem but to use RPC over HTTP you need enough cals.

We have only 5 users connect using rpc/http. At this time we have this error:

How many user are locally connected to the server via workstations?
Is it always the same users?

We don´t have users locally, this server are instaled at datacenter and all connections are make by RPC/HTTP or owa.

This users are working in different places.
