How can you recover a user profile in Visat?

On a restart, information message stated "Could not load all the user profile settings".     Restart continued, but the entire user profile had been recreated.    All files and folder in the user profile were recreated at startup.

How can we recover the original user profile.

In control panel, user accounts, configure advanced user profile properties,  the size of the profile looks unreal (35 GB) and the status notes  Backup, not Local.

Any ideas on how to recover?
