Have you tried scanning via Citrix and not had any luck?  We've used USB scanners with XenApp 4.0, 4.5 and now with XenDesktop.  For XenApp you need to enable Twain Redirection.

Hi amichel!

Whit Citrix We can make that (Twain redirection). We´re looking for an alternative to Citrix, We found 2X. Now, 2X don´t make the "Twain redirection". We need, maybe  other product, or a product that only make the scanning.

Thnx a lot

There is a product called remotescan.  It was pretty popular before citrix got better at Twain redirection.  I had tested it years ago but never purchased as it was a little pricey, but that may depend on how many users you need and how much you are saving by using 2X instead of Citrix.

Hi!

Yes, remotescan is pricey. We have too many users and 2X is a good solution for our system. But in remote scanning 2X don´t give us a real solution. So, I need something like remotescan. Don´t Citrix.

Thnx a lot!

Hi Experts!

I readed the other day that, 2X is based in RDP, something like that.

My question is:

How I can make the twain redirection?

Thnx

The RemoteScan product is the only thing I have ever seen that can tunnel a scanner connection back through RDP to a terminal server.  Citrix, as we have established, has support for TWAIN redirection but you are paying $250-$350 per CCU with Citrix or $300 per scanner with RemoteScan and Citrix is concurrent.  RemoteScan is a retail license that is only good for the one PC you install it on; they pissed me off years ago...I had a client buy a license, they didn't like how it worked but we wanted to try it a year later and got it working ok.  The trial period expired and they wouldn't allow me to renew the license because it had been used on a PC with a different name.  I explained that we never got it working in the first place but they cared more about squeezing another $300 out of my client than helping me use the product.

Therefore (if anyone from RemoteScan is listening and cares): I do not suggest using their product.  It does what they say but they are not at all flexible with their licensing.  They have also jacked up their prices over the years and have not, in my view, expanded their feature set in turn.  You don't get a cheaper, lower feature option.  All my users want is what Citrix charges them for (by CCU mind you, not by seat).

I have stopped recommending it at all (I just took thousands out of your pockets RemoteScan, hope you think hard about nickel and diming people).  I suggest buying Citrix, with which you get TONS of extra features (secure gateway, TS load balancing, TWAIN redirection, etc) or scanning to PDF and attaching via the file system.  Even RDP gives you drive mapping.  Map an S: drive to \\tsclient\c\myscanfolder and now you have an S: drive redirected through RDP without paying either vendor.

I will now step off my high horse and go back to work.

lol @ BLipman.

Yeah, since Citrix XP RemoteScan kind of became moot and I haven't used it since then either, but it was the only thing I could think of for him as well.

https://www.ambir.com/ambir/scanlink is the most complete 3rd party tool for what OP is looking to do.  Remote-scan works ok but Blipman is right about them.

Thanks for the post!  It is nice to see another option for scanning in an SBC environment.  Can you ballpark the cost of the software?

our Company Recently has moved from high cost citrix to 2x XG and till know everything appears working as intended we have also published a Custom application which requires TWAIN  REDIRECTION and I can Confirm that twain redirection works fine on 2x XG

2X Universal Scanning uses TWAIN redirection to allow any application using TWAIN technology to use hardware connected to the client device for scanning.
With 2X Universal Scanning there is no need to install any scanner drivers on the server. Only one scanner is shown on the server regardless of the number of users and sessions currently in use on the terminal server. The 2X Universal Scanning drivers come in 32 and 64 bit format.

hope  I have addressed your issue,
