OAB Won't Download Exchange 2007

Hello,

OAB download works fine from any 2003 client showing the OAB is fine & public folder distribution is working.

From Outlook 2007 clients, the OAB will not download, just hang indefinitely.

I am able to browse to OAB URL fine, enter credentials, and view the OAB.

IIS logs show error 500 (internal server error) when Outlook tries to access OAB.  New profiles do not resolve the issue..

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi,

First check if your autodiscover is working. From an Outlook 2007 client run Test Email autoconfig and see if that works, if it does not then you will have to fix that first. If it works then see the OAB URL and try to browse oab.xml using the complete URL and see the results. If still it is the same issue then follow the following steps

Remove-OabVirtualDirectory "OAB (Default Web Site)" to delete and
New-OABVirtualDirectory to recreate it.

After recreating it again Enable the web distribution and select the OAB directory there. Restart the MSExchangeFileDistribution service and the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and the Guid will get regenerated under the OAB in IIS

If this doesn't help

Try creating a new OAB in EMC > Organization Configuration > Mailbox > Offline Address Book and name it TEST or anything u like and select the OAB generation server and select the Default Global Address List. Enable Web Based distribution and select the OAB VDir. Once done right click on it and set it as default. wait for some time and let it populate itself

Then Restart the MSExchangeFileDistribution service and the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and the Guid will get regenerated under the OAB in IIS. Now try to access oab.xml under this guid from the client if that works then you should be able to download OAB.

The first steps worked for OAB, but broke autodiscover & now Outlook constantly prompts for a password (10+ times when starting up Outlook).

Enabling anonymous authentication on the OAB V-dir solved all my problems.  Thanks for the help.

Solution worked properly after anonymous authentication was enabled on OAB virtual directory.
