How can I get Vista Ultimate x64 to enable System Beep

For some reason Microsoft decided in Vista x64 to disable the System Beep, is there a way or some workaround to enable the system beep or at least to cause the system beep to play to a speaker?  I have tried everything possible under the System Sounds and nothing causes the Beep to play on actual speakers, and the system speaker doesn't beep as that driver and functionality have been removed completely from windows vista x64.

What beep are you referring to? What action would trigger it? I havent noticed anything removed from the sound schemes, and I am also running Vista Ult 64bit....

system speaker beep, Basically when you boot up your computer you have that initial beep, when you trigger incorrect actions in the OS, you usually here a beep from the tiny system speaker. That no longer happens.

if you go to a 32bit workstation using vista
Go to Device Manager, Show hidden devices, and look under non-Plug and Play you will see one of the choices as Beep.  do the same thing for vista x64 and you will see it no longer has that functionality.

Well after much searching it seems there is no solution to the problem except using third party software.

HummingBird Exceed seems to be able to route the system speaker beep.

See if you can import the above reg key from a 32bit Vista, and import it to your Vista 64bit.....
