ESX3i Remote access outside the lan

I configured some ports on the firewall router and now i am able to access the ESX3i Host from the internet without any problem. The issue is on managing the host, actually most of the management task can be done without any issue. The main problem is one I am not able to access the console of the VM.

I get on the console screen an error of time out connection. The reason is that I am in another office where we have another ESX but I would like to install a DC remotely to our virtual network but of course I cannot do that as I cannot see the console. This error is the same also for VM already installed with the OS running.

If I am in the physical location inside the LAN this issue of course doesn't occur.

I guess the time out error is due to the internet connection that is not good enough.

We have about 6mb of real speed on both office. Is the reason or there is something that I am missing?

    Accepted Solution

You need to open 2 Ports on the Firewall in order to ensure perfect connectivity using VI Client to an ESX Server.
Port 902 for VMware Authorization Daemon and Port 903 for VMware Remote MKS (Mouse, Keyboard, Screen)

Have you opened these 2 Ports ?

Hey you right thanks. I had opened two ports but the numbers of the opened ports was 443 and 903 I missed the 902.

I loggged to the Firewall and I corrected this situation the issue is solved
