VLAN Query - Routing Issue

1 x HP Procurve 5412zl L3 Switch

2 Vlans

DATA (DEFAULT) - 10.1.2.1/8
VOICE - 10.255.0.10/20

Routing enabled on the Switch.

All other switches - L2 Procurves.

Clients on VLAN1 cannot communicate with Devices on VLAN2 unless static route applied to device on VLAN1 = I believe this is due to VLAN2 being an overlapping subnet of VLAN1.
VLAN1 clients have default gateway of 10.1.2.1.

We need to implement other VLANS

You'll need to fix the IP addressing problem. Specifically, the mask being used on VLAN 1.

donjohnston: Thanks I came to the same conclusion the problem is how best to do it.

Because the subnet on VLAN2 is /20 does not leave a lot of room.

Would it be best to change both e.g.

VLAN1 - 10.10.0.0/16
VLAN2 - 10.20.0.0/16

Would not changing both sort this issue and be cleaner.

"not a lot of room"? A 12-bit host field allows for 4094 hosts on that network.

Yes.
