Im using Vista and VS Team System 2008 Development edition.

When I click setup.exe to add in an additional feature, I get the following error message and the installation stops:
Error 32003.File C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\Tools\vsvars32.bat could not be opened for write.

dumb question, but have you checked to see if the file is in that location and can open it in notepad?

No question is dumb! I'll try anything at this stage.Spent 4 hours trying to sort this. I can open it in notepad and I can save it. I didnt change anything in there :-) I just wanted to make sure i had permissions to save.

There is a bit online about permissions but none of that has worked for me.

So in the permissions tab you have write access?

Also are you the one that installed VS or did an admin install it?

I got a solution. When I went into Control Panel and clicked uninstall on VS2008, It let me repair it that way. Not sure why I had the issue the other way.

What I was trying before was clicking the setup.exe from when you first install it. That gives you the same option to repair. Then it failed doing it this way. Kinda weird!!
