I need to find out the backup mode of "PFbackup.exe" or personal folder backup add-in utility.

i have got few pst files, they are are around 2 Gig in size.each file regularly modified for archiving purpose ,we do backup them to a network drive, i do not want to backup 2 Gig of data just for a change on a single email ( 10kb in size ).we are using PFBackup.exe but not sure how it does the backup , each time i do a backup it takes longer time.

does PFBackup copy the entire pst file instead of appending , inserting or modifying existing previous backup copy ?
is there a way that i can force the PFBackup.exe to do in incremental mode ?

I really appreciate all your valuable input - thanks in advance.

Hi, Thushya.

Here's the answer in Microsoft's own words from this page (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA010875321033.aspx):

"Personal Folders Backup tool   is used to copy your entire .pst file or files to your hard disk or to a network server or share."

If you need to do an incremental backup, then your choices are to use a 3rd-party tool (e.g. http://www.datamills.com/) or create something yourself via scripting.

Hi Blue,
thanks for the reply and confirmation, in fact someone else told me the backup utility moves data and does not copy the entire file.

Thanks again.
