Binary mode using PSFTP

Hello,

I am having the same problem with ftp dropping special characters.  I'm using PuTTy/ PSFTP.  I thought I should binary mode, but PSFTP doesn't have a binary command.  I tried "quote binary", but it doesn't support the quote command either.  Suggestions?

isn't that not exactly what I asked to check?
"then either your server is configured wrong"

I found this on the web...

http://www.mkssoftware.com/docs/man1/sftp.1.asp

If you scroll down to the NOTES section, you'll see it says that all files are transferred in binary mode.  So even if I could switch to binary mode, it doesn't look like that is the answer.  Help!!

if putty really transfers in binary mode, then either your server is configured wrong, or you need to replace putty by somethng reliable (like real ssh/scp ;-)

putty can be reliable in scp mode, I used to make binaries (gzip files) copies during 2 years without a single problem on a public line...

Never mind.  I figured it out.  The process was that one server ftp'd (put) to an intermediate server and then we ftp'd (get) it down from that server via PuTTy.  The problem turned out to be that the sending ftp server (put) wasn't sending in binary mode even though PuTTy was pulling (get) in binary mode.  Once that was fixed, it worked.

It may be, but I figured it out before any response was received.  Responses were a long time in coming, so I just tried different things until I figured it out.
