Urgent problem with Symantec Endpoint Protection

I installed the trialware version of Symantec Endpoint Protection - it all worked. Pushed it out to about 20 clients, all fine.  I purchased the license thinking I could simply put in the license key somewhere.  Went to open the management console and it wouldn't take credentials.  After much research found out out to reset it.  Now the problem is I get an error when it open 'unable to communicate with the reporting component'.  I cannot connect to the database; have done reseach, I go into the ODBC connector, will not accept any credentials!!!

I have the new product to install but am concerned that the trialware won't uninstall (symantec is bad at that) and anyway will have the same problem not being able to connect to the database!
This product expires in 2 days!  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  I have read many posts here but haven't found anything to help.

Backup the current database.
Do you have a second server where you can deploy the newly purchased endpoint? Restore the database on the newly installed server.  You can now push the client installs from the newly installed server to the clients.
You should be able to uninstall the trialware.

Were you planning on having Mssql as the backend Database or use the local database that comes with EndPoint?

Are you using the 11 MR4.1 version or prior?

I tried to backup the database previously and it looked like it was backing up however after 30 minutes it was still going.
I'm using the embedded database.
Version 11 of the trialware, I have MR4 waiting to install.

When ransomware hits your clients, what do you do?

MSPs: Endpoint security isn’t enough to prevent ransomware.
As the impact and severity of crypto ransomware attacks has grown, Webroot fought back, not just by building a next-gen endpoint solution capable of preventing ransomware attacks but also by being a thought leader.

If you can start from scratch, do it.
Double check that you have the most recent update. MR4 had a problem and there was a MR4.x release.

I have not looked at the links xmachine posted, but see whether they help in resolving your issue.

if you want to go with the unistall route then you can use the latest cleanwipe tool.

1) Since it's a trial version, you can't do anything to activate. You need to download the full version form (fileconnect.symantec.com) or use the media pack that is usually shipped with the license.

2) Uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection manager, reboot your server

3) Install SEPM using the full package

4) Deploy SEP agents again
