Outlook 2007 / Exchange 2003 Out of Office Assistant disappeared from Tools

User with Outlook 2007 client connecting to corporate Exchange 2003 server (in cached exchange mode) had been accessing and using the Out of Office Assistant via Tools successfully, and now it has disappeared completely from the drop down menu under Tools.

Saw similar postings but none pointing to a fix.

I am sure that it provided by one of the plugins for Exchange. Have you checked those are all present and correct?

Simon.

This is caused by the Exchange Addins not being enabled in Outlook

For chin2000:  tried resetting the Tools per your procedure with no luck, Out of Office Assistant still not showing up.

For FearNoMore:  the microsoft support article applies to Outlook 2003 and not Outlook 2007.

For Mestha:  looking into this.

Although the article is for Outlook 2007...It explains why the Out of Office Assistant may not be available
For Outlook 2007....Go to Tools....Trust Centre.....Then Addins.....Near the bottom half of the screen you will see a drop down called as "Manage"....Select "Exchange Client Extensions" and then click on "Go"
Here you should see a check box called "Exchange Extension Commands"
Check this box and now you should be able to see the Out of Office Assistant.....
If you donot see the check box for Exchange Extension Commands then you need to click on "Install" and install the corresponding .ECF file (Extension Configuration Files)

Attempted the Outlook 2007 procedure outlined above.  I did not see a check box for Exchange Extension Commands, and when I clicked on Install, there were NO .ECF files to choose from for installation.

Problem solved by running "Office Diagnostics" via the Help menu in Outlook 2007.  Ran this, and when Outlook restarted the Out of Office Assistant was back where it belonged.
