Exchange mailstore moving data

I have multiple mail stores under a single exchange server. I now need to move some mailboxes from one store to another
Will this reduce storage capacity as i move these mailboxes across as i have limited HDD capacity at present on this exchange server?

If I rememeber correctly, the size of an mailbox store will NOT decrease when you move a mailbox out of it (or delete a mailboxe, or emails, or whatever).  To decrease the store's filesize you will need to defrag it using eseutil.

Possible options:  if you have more than 3 stores- you can dismount one of the stores and move it to a USB drive for the duration of the mailbox move, and eseutil defrag.
Note: the eseutil defrag requires an amount of space equal to the store's size to run. You can use an external USB for this needed space too.

You will see a reduction in your transaction log location, as the entire move is logged. Therefore ensure you have space there.
However the physical database sizes will not change on the source, as already stated, and will increase on the destination.

Simon.
Actually the mailboxes after the move could grow appoximately 10 percent in size.  Check out:
