Copy file to tape with mssql 2005

Hi,

I'm currently setting up our backup strategy using an sql job. I am trying to find out if it is possible to copy a backup made using the sql command:

"BACKUP DATABASE SiteDB TO DISK = '\\bakStorage\sql1.bak'

to a tape device on the same server by using an sql command that can be added as a step in the job?

Many Thanks
Lee

BACKUP DATABASE SiteDB
   TO TAPE = '\\.\Tape0'
   WITH NOINIT,
      NAME = 'Full Backup of SiteDB ';

Hi Andy,

I thought this might be the case. I was hoping to avoid perform the backup twice. I take it that you can not perform a backup to file then copy the file that was created to tape.

Many thanks

Hmm don't think so unless you back your filesystem up to tape
