MSExchangeIS and Port 1144

I have a server running Exchange 2007 on Windows 2003.  Lately we have noticed a lot of traffic being generated by port 1144 from the exchange server to other PC's.  Running netstat on the server it seems this is being generated by MSExchangeIS.

Is this normal activity.

    That looks normal.
Exchange works on a push capability. It sends a packet to Outlook to tell it that something has changed on the mailbox and for Outlook to go and look. That is done on a random port above 1024.
