It is possible to configure failover and load balancing on an 1811. <br />
<br />
For failover, you can run the HSRP (Hot Standby Routing Protocol).<br />

For load balancing you can run the GLBP (Gateway Load Balancing Protocol)<br />

I just tried enabling these on an 1811 and was able to enable them at least. Note however, I am running advanced IP services image on the 1811, not 100% sure if that will matter or not. <br />
