Blackberry Email Reconciliation Options changed by BES restart

Periodically some of my Blackberry users stop receiving email from the BES.  This is not that big of a deal to reset (just a server restart), but the fix resets the Delete On: option to Handheld in the Email Reconciliation options of each BlackBerry. Is this a changeable default setting, or how can I force the devices to stay on the Prompt setting?  I am using BES 4.1 & Exchange 2007.

I checked the devices & all the activation dates are good (most several months before the last time this issue happened)

I will update the BES & test later this evening.

All BES services (including the above mentioned service) are started & set to Automatic

Wiping & reactivating the devices seems to have no effect on this problem at all, but I will also check that  again after the update to SP6-MR5.
I attempted the upgrade just a minute ago, but Windows gave me an error that says:

The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program.  Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.

Do I need to install an older update before applying SP6-MR5?

System Info:
Blackberry Manager Version is 4.1.3.18
USB Channel Controller Version is 3.0.0.4
Device Manager Version is 4.2.1.6
Application Loader Version is 4.2.1.9
RIM Intel Programmer Version is 1.0.0.35
The BlackBerry Service packs and maintenance releases are accumulative so no prior patches are required.  Please ensure the updates are installed using the Blackberry Service Account (e.g. BESadmin).
I was logged in as BESadmin when I tried it.  Should I try it logged in as Administrator?
All updates MUST be installed using the Blackberry Service Account.  You need to ensure you install SP6 first and then MR5.

Please ensure that you are not running Blackberry Professional as this does not support any of the new service packs.
Which updates must be installed; Windows, Blackberry?
Hold that thought.  I am trying the update 1 more time because I may be having an ID-Ten-T error.
Let us know how you go after installing the BlackBerry updates.
I have overcome my incompetence and correctly installed Service Pack 6 & Maintenance Release 5.  I will monitor the BES for a week to see if my problem returns.  I will report any problems or accept as solution by next Friday.  Thanks for the help.
Great to hear.  Have you noticed the new SP6 features? On 4.5 or higher firmware you will have html email, you can open\edit documents, do remote desktop search etc, and there are many new options in Blackberry Manager (even simple feature like being able to right mouse click users).
My issue appears to have been resolved by the upgrade.  The manager does have some nifty new features too.
