Playstation 1 on HDTV Help!

I just bought an original playstation the big one that was tone of the first ones that came out.  I got it connected to my 32 inch widescreen HDTV via AUdio/Video cables.  When I play the games its very pixelized and doesn't look good at all.  How can I fix this.  I have three settings that are widescreen , panaramic, or original, and they all have black bars on the tops and sides of the video.  Please help!

i figured it out. i can reposition the horizontal and vertical screen up and down and also the size of it.  now it fits perfect with the outside edges but of course its pixelized, i didnt expect it to have ps3 graphics.  the graphics were expected...i just wanted it to take up the full screen instead of stupid black letterboxes everywhere.  my TV is 720p max resolution by the way.  thanks for trying.

Sorry but there's no easy way around this.  The screen output resolution on the PS1 is 320x240 maximum and your HDTV is at least  1280x720 (720p) and more likely 1920x1080 (1080i/p).

Your monitor is trying to upscale the input from the PS1 but to make it fit it means multiplying up by up to a factor of 6 so a single little pixel block on your original PS1 game now occupies a square of 36 pixels on the HDTV.

The Black "letterbox" lines around the outside are the screen compensating for the difference in the aspect ratio 4:3 for the PS1 320x240 compared with 16:9 widescreen for the HDTV.

The screen and the PS1 belong to two different techology ages and will never really work together :(
