Reboot after RegEdit

Is a reboot required after a registry edit for Windows 2003 Server 32 bit? The path will be HKey_ Local_Machine > Software

Depends on what it is you're modifying exactly.

If you're adding keys, no.

In general, if there is a process in use which uses those keys that you're updating and the process can't be restarted, then a reboot is required.

This is a minor change to enable the export of data from an application interface that defaults to not exporting the data. The application interface runs as a Windows Service that could be restarted.

No need to restart.  Would recommend shutting down the service, doing your update, then start the service as to not have any conflicts.
