Crystal Reports 2008 Install problem

I tried to install Crystal 2008 on my windows XP machine today and received DLL registrations errors on what seemed like 40+ dll files.  I found some info elsewhere on the net that said to hit ignore until the end of the install and then remove the program and try again.  I did that, but the same thing happens.  What is wrong?

Do you have other versions of Crystal installed?

Yes and no.  I first tried it on my laptop where I have Crystal 7 and an old version of Seagate Info Server.  Had the problem there.  I also have a tower- where I do not have Crystal 7.  I tried to install it there and had the same problem.

I don't know.  I have it installed with CR XI and by itself.  I didn't have any problems.

Is this a CD or the download trial version?

Out of the box CD.  Guess I will try it on another, non-work computer and see what happens.

It is possible you got a bad CD.  You could download the trial version and use the CD key code.

Herre is a link to the main Crystal page.  Click the TRY button on the right

Do you have administrator privileges under the account you're using to install the software?  That just sounds odd.  I have both XI and 2008 installed on my laptop with no problems, whatsoever.  I even had the beta version of 2008 at one point and didn't have any problems with it. What edition of XP are you using?

This seems to have done the trick.  Guess I did get a bad CD or something, which seems strange, but in any event-  thanks for the suggestion.
