Plesk Qmail RBL slowness

We added b.barracudacentral.org as an RBL on our Plesk Servers. But we are seeing slow connecting times to the SMTP Port. If we remove the b.barracudacentral.org, then the SMTP replies very quick. We use two other RBLs and they work fine. Also we are using the b.barracudacentral.org on our Exim servers and they are very happy. BTW, we use FreeBSD. Are we doing something wrong?
smtp stream tcp nowait/1000 root /usr/local/psa/qmail/bin/tcp-env tcp-env -Rt0 /
usr/local/psa/qmail/bin/rblsmtpd -r b.barracudacentral.org -r bl.spamcop.net -r sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org /usr/local/psa/qmail/bin/relaylock /usr/local/psa/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd /usr/local/psa/qmail/bin/smtp_auth /usr/local/psa/qmail/bin/true /usr/local/psa/qmail/bin/cmd
5checkpw /usr/local/psa/qmail/bin/true

You have to set up local caching DNS server which will cover common host blacklist entries.

exim OR qmail ?

inetd is very inefficient

you can do rbl checks in exim, no need to involve extra zoo.

also evaluate spamd (OpenBSD one, not spamassassin) while you are at FreeBSD for very efficient virus rejection.

Local DNS Caching has been setup as or EXIM servers are working fine. But the PLESK FreeBSD servers only run Qmail. The problem is only coming from the qmail servers.

exim can handle RBLs
So you do not have DNS cache on Plesk-qmail-whatever servers?

DNS Cache has been setup on the plesk servers. Plesk is a webhosting server platform that only use Qmail for a mail client on this version. It has something to do with the RBL and how qmail handles it, as I am doing the same with my Exim servers and no problems. So we can rule out BRBL and DNS Cache. It has to be something with the qmail setup

Is your qmail actually using DNS cache?

Being second guessed, I now have a feeling that the local DNS servers IP is not listed with BRBL..... I will look into and get back with ASAP....

Yep that was it, we add all our DNS servers to BRBL, but forgot to add the local mail servers caching  DNS. Thanks for pointing that out again to me.

If I correctly understand this site thanking is done by grading appropriate comment which solved your problem.

It is moderation issue - I told about DNS problem which basically solves the problem. Maybe asker feels guilty going to internet with such a simple problem, but it is the way it solved. I can go with NR resolution also.

I don't get it. I clicked on accept solution and reward points. I give all 250 points to gheist. Why would you object closing of this issue if it is solved.
