OCS 2007 R2 Certificate requirement

Hi,

I'm about to buy a certificate from http://www.startssl.com/?app=12
and the purpose is to secure my Microsoft Office COmmunication Server 2007 R2  (OCS 2007)

what should i put into the SAN (Subject Alternative Name) entry ?
i was thinking to put the following:
domain.com
OCSserver.domain.com
sipinternal.domain.com
sipexternal.domain.com

any idea please ?

Cheers,

well it depends on what role your talking about? if your talking about your OCS front end - dont bother with an external provider - pointless waste of money.
If your talking about your access edge, then sipexternal.domain.com and externaldnsentry.domain.com

yes it is just for IM and VoIP phone between my internal office use.

so i guess i don't need it now.

Thanks.

nup - just use an internal CA. Less cost, easier to manage (IMO)

oh and the common name should be the FQDN of the server and the SAN's should be any dns alias you have allocated to your front-end.

ok, so in this case i do need to create Internal CA service on my Domain and then distribute the certificate.cer file to everyone who wants to connect ?

All computer joined to the domain will automatically enroll with the internal CA and therefore be trusted
