I have vpn client 4.8xxx running fine on my laptop for 2 yrs. I tried to update to 5.0.05.0290 to check something out. And now after I uninstalled the old version (I have to do manually since the Add/Remove way didn't work in the beginning).

**** My system info: Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop;
Windows XP Prof SP2  1G RAM Intel 2GHz;
major apps: Office 2007; IE 7; Verizon VZAccess wireless Internet;

**** I followed http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/secursw/ps2308/products_tech_note09186a0080094b7f.shtml to do MANUAL uninstall.

**** SYMPTOM
when I launch the vpnclient_setup.exe, it spawned 3 instances of msiexec, I can see a dos window open briefly and closed each time, but never see the main Install window.

**** I enabled MSI Logging and got the attached log during my install attempt.

Please check log to see what else could be causing the installer to fail so badly, thanks!

FIXED (indirectly) by Restoring to System Point BEFORE the first vpn 5 install attempt. Then, uninstall vpn 4.8 cleanly, check all register, TEMP locations, Program Files folder,...for left overs of incomplete installs, Even booted in Safe Mode to clean up locked vpn folders.
Then able to install smoothly in one shot after restart.
All working great and the vpn 5 client seemed to have fixed intermittent routing issue after tunnel is up.
