MAC OS X SMB share dropping error -35

I'm running MAC OS X 10.5.6 with an SMB share to my Win SBS2003 server. I can make the connection to the server no problem, but if my Mac drops off the network for any period of time, I cannot get back into the share until a reboot of the mac. The error given is "The application could not be launched Error -35"

If I reboot the MAC my SMB share mounts automatically as it should.

Any help is VERY much apreciated.

    Accepted Solution

SMB share mapping from OS X to Windows servers is problematic.  I mount a share every day and my Mac never falls off the network.  But every once in a while I totally lose the ability to mount a share and the only fix I have found is to either  reboot the server or the Mac. I didn't have any problems with SMB mounting until I moved past 10.5.4.  10.5.5 was a mess with share mounting and .6 seems to have made it better, but I still don't think that it's as good as it was in 10.5.4.

Do you know why the Mac is falling off the network... that really shouldn't happen unless your running some VPN connection remotely.

    Hi Thanks for your comment.

By falling off, I mean possibly the mac (macbook Pro) going to sleep. However I often have the problem connected via my VPN (site-site - router to router, not client software). I

I could see  a VPN connection being a potential issue, but my Mac does go into sleep mode at night and if I am out of the office for too long and I don't seem to see any correlation between that and issue with mounting SMB shares.
