Easy 500: What is a VMWare Delta file

I have this question open: https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24372329/VMWare-snapshots-migrato.html?anchorAnswerId=24279829#a24279829

I think some of these delta files may be the problem, but I'm not sure what a delta file is.

A delta file is used to determine the differences (or delta change) from the main file and the file containing the changes.

so I need them?
To retain all the changes made to the system that was contained in those snapshots, yes. You best bet would be to see if you can restore them some how and then follow the instructions in the link I provided to commit the delta changes to the main file.

If you have no way of recovering the files then I believe it is still possible to get the VM working again by modifying the .vmx file. I haven't found it yet but I believe there is a way to make it think there never were any snapshots and then it will go back to the state it was in since you last merge.
