Vipre Antivirus Opionions

We are considering a switch to Sunbelt Vipre Antivirus. I am looking for opinions on it, and how it stacks up to AVG, Avast, Symantec, McAfee, etc. If you have it installed, how is it on resources? Whats the rate of false positives? If you have it in corporate environment, how are the enterprise controls, and reporting? Have you had any infections while installed and how was the response from sunbelt on cleanup? Overall thoughts?

I've never heard of Vipre before, but I did do a comparison of several products when our Symantec license was up for renewal.  I tested AVG symantec, Mcafee, Avast, Kaspersky, and ESET. Out of all of those Kaspersky and ESET I liked the best, in terms of speed, features and management.  I recommend you setup a few virtual machines and try them out.
I would advise you to steer clear of Symantec, because its purely commercial now. My company used Symantec before and 15 trojans couldn't be treated by the antivirus and I had to install AVG free edition on that PC to get rid of the viruses. All the Symantec corporate edition antivirus did was to detect the virus and display a popup to saw that there is a virus and it cannot be removed.

There is also a website that has comparisons of different antiviruses: www.av-comparatives.org , it might be useful.

Stay away they have gone down hill,  I have used it for years and we are switching when our support expires.  They no longer use .msi installers or have a removal tool.  The console doesn't remove the software correctly, I would go on but you get the idea.
