How to stop Automatic Software Installs when new profile created?

I have a WIndows XP Home computer that was attached to a business network.  WordPerfect 2002 had been jnstalled to the C: drive from a copy of the installation CD which was stored on a network resource.  I removed the computer from the network and took it home.  I deleted the user account that was used for the network login.  I created  new user account BUT every time I log in to the new account WIndows Installer tries to contact the network resource to install WordPerfect.  I have gone into the Add/Remove programs applet but WordPerfect is not there.  How do I stop these installation attempts?

Seems that what is trying to install Word Perfect is set in the Group Policy, to remove this or even check to see if this is what is happening go to run and type in gpedit.msc.

The group policy editor will pop up, just navigate to Computer Configuration > Software Settings and disable any object in the Window.  Once you have disabled the object type in gpupdate in the run window to take in the settings.

Once you have disabled and updated it should be fine to delete the object.  I would hold off on this for a little while because GP is funny sometimes in not disabling settings set on a GPO that has been deleted without being disabled.

Just disable the GPO and leave it there for a while till you know everything is normal.

Thanks for the suggestion.  Computer reports "cannot find 'gpedit.msc'

I would check to see if anything is trying to run from the registry. Check
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run

Don't see anything running that references WordPerfect.  I see ISUSPM Startup which is calling InstallShield\UpdateServices\isuspm.exe.  I also see ISUSS Scheduler, which is calling InstallShield\UpdateServices\issch.

You can try to see what items are trying to startup with msconfig, or running HijackThis and posting your log.

JDominguezNY: - Thank you for your effort - I wound up going back on-site, connecting to the network and letting the instalkl run, then uninstalling while connected to the network..
