Workflow Rules in CRM 3.0

Evening all

In Microsoft CRM 3.0, we can create an email template that we send out to all new leads

Question, once we've entered the lead and sent the initial template, how do we configure a Workflow rule to automatically create a follow up phone call 3 days later ?

What you mean by initial template, do you mean email from a template?
I have attached a screenshot (workflow-email-screen.jpg)  to indicate how to configure wait timer after the email is created. Basically you got to use "Wait for timer" configure it for 3 days after the email is created.
