Hp laptop dv5000 freezes when usb is plugged in
Hp laptop Dv5020us freezes when usb is plugged in. Works fine until I plug in a camera or printer. Just freezes. Tried uninstalling usb ports and updating bios.
Try going to HP or using the HP update to get the newest drivers for the laptop. I've had HP machines and the problem is more than likely on the HP side.
Are the Camera and other USB devices getting detected by Windows?? Or nothing happens at all and the computer just freezes??
Also scan your computer with MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (www.malwarebytes.org) to be sure that its not a malware issue.

The devices do not get detected, the computer freezes
Aha, I see. Have a look in BIOS to see if plug-and-play is enabled and universal serial bus (usb) is allowed as well. Secondly, please carry on with the malware scan in the meantime. Its quite possible that updating BIOS has turned off the USB support.
You may also want to update the BIOS
