I am developing a web application using VS2008,  ASP.NET,  framework 3.5
The application uses system.net/mailsetting section of web.config file to store SMTP information.
While running
aspnet_regiis.exe -pe "system.net/mailsettings" -app /MyApp -prov "DataProtectionConfigurationProvider"
I get "The configuration section 'system.net/mailsettings' was not found" error.
How do I encrypt this section ?

Can you please explain what you did that sorted out the problem.
I tried 'system.net/mailsettings/smtp' but that did not help.

OK my mistake,
I tried 'system.net/mailSettings/smtp' and it worked.
The "S" in mailSettings was not proper (upper case).
I will close the question.
