I would like to give user permissions to some users such that they can only EDIT existing articles and not be able to create new ones or delete articles. How can I do that?

Hi there

In teh backend of Joomla - go to site / user manager and select user group as public front-end "editor"
and save.

The user can then (from  the front end of the website only and only when logged in) edit files.

I should add that the user will actually be able to create new articles in certain circumstances - e.g.  - if they go to a category or section link through thr front end - however, these will not be published unless approved by an administrator or publisher.
