we have a few windows xp machines that are somehow stuck on outlook is waiting to update folder. they are running outlook 2007 and connected to exchange 2003.
when we disable the cache mode, they work fine, we tried starting with a new OST and still fails. when we delete the outlook profile and started with a new one, still the same thing happens and gets stuck on waiting to update folder.
I am not sure if there is a message stuck in the mailbox "corrupt" or something is wrong.
figured will ask you guys and see if you have any good tips.
thank you

Try to go to account settings/more settings/advanced/offline folder file settings/disable offline use and try.

it works fine with cache not enabled, but will need to get it working with cache on as otherwise would be very slow.

Working online is not the ideal. Close Outlook and rename (for safety) the ost file to somthing like .ost.bak. Restart Outlook. It will rebuild the ost file since there is no ost file and your problem is solved. Worked for me.
