Hi there,

We have a single SMTP virtual server and 2 SMTP connectors, we would like to use different outbound smtp port on SMTP virtual server but It will affect FAX flow from one of the connector as the smarthost (FAX router) associated with this connector can only listen on port 25, user send out faxes using outlook client.

If I create another SMTP virtual server, can I seperate the FAX traffic from email traffic on SMTP connectors i.e One SMTP virtual server associate with one connector(for email) and 2nd SMTP virtual server associate with other(for FAX)?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You can configure your Exchange server with two static IP addresses on its network card and use one IP address per virtual server.  Then both virtual servers can operate concurrently on port 25.

Example:
Exchange server network card configured with IP addresses 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2.

SMTP Virtual Server 1 (Fax) configured to use 10.0.0.1 with port 25.
SMTP Virtual Server 2 (E-mail) configured to use 10.0.0.2 with port 25.

Additionally, to avoid having to reconfigure your router and/or get additional public IP addresses, you will want to make sure that both SMTP virtual servers receive from the Internet using the same SMTP Connector.
