Insert Signature in Lotus Notes From a Button Instead of Automatically

I want to create a button to insert the HTML signature from the calendar profile in a Notes 6.5 client.  We want to have a standard corporate HLML signature document but don't want it to be sent all the time.

Can anyone help?

Hi,

You can use smart icon to insert meeting information or your signature. A good reference is here

Cheers !

Thank you for all your ideas but I chose a much simpler way.  And for me, simple is the way to go.

What I did was to copy & modify the Lotus Notes 'Insert Signature' action.  This allowed me to set it as a button on the MEMO form & I even put a .GIF of our corporate logo on it to make it stand out

Here is the code behind the button:

Sub Click(Source As Button)
      Call cMemoObject.InsertSignature(True)
End Sub

If you set the argument to False (default), Notes will pop-up a dialogue box allowing you to browse to the file or accept the one in the signature file.  I set it to true so that the signature file in the Calendar profile option is always chosen.

I plan on making the changes to the iNotes mail file template, so it rolls out during the design refresh & sending a self-extracting .ZIP file out with everyones signature.htm created with MS Word.  All that the user will need to do is browse to the file in Tools-Preferences-Signature and make sure that the auto-insert flag is NOT set.

This is the plan anyway.

The solution almost works there is just one small thing that causes an issue.  Clicking the button with this code behind it causes the HTML file to be inserted at the top of the BODY of the email.  When one uses the Lotus Notes way 'Tools\Insert signature'  the dialogue box pops-up but it senses where the cursor is and places the signature there.

Does anyone have an idea on how the Lotus Notes standard way is sensing the cursor location?  I called IBM support & there is no public documentation on this procedure as it is from the Notes core application.

Ok,  The button works but always inserts the signature at the top of the memo.  We didn't like this so I asked for help from a Notes developer.  He said I couldn't do it that way and quickly wrote me a script that would work properly.  Unfortunately I don't have his permission to post the code but he does work for DLI tools.  http://www.dlitools.com
