Exchange 2003 - How to find Maximum Concurrent Users

We need to know what is the maximum # of users who access our Exch2K3 concurrently. To this end, I am monitoring in PerfMon the counter "Maximum Users" of Object MSExchangeIS which is defined as "the maximum number of concurrent users since startup."

However, this number is around 530 while we have only 320 mailboxes and users. What could account for this high number? We do have Blackberry users. Could users be logging mulitple times, thru Outlook MAPI, Outlook OWA and BB?

Related to this, how does the counter "Maximum Connections" (the maximum number of concurrent connections since startup) differ from above counter/? Thanks.

Blackberry will account for that considerably.
So will ActiveSync, OWA, users accessing other's mailboxes, shared calendar information. It can very quickly clock up.

Get hold of exmon or EXINSIGHT. That will show you real time what is happening.
