IE7 Application locks up causing app to close

I have end users who were recently upgraded to IE7. Their main applicaton, which is a POS tool, runs on IE7. This application was upgraded from IE6 (they had no problems running on IE6)
During the course of a day, the users have random lockups, approx 4-5 a day. This lock up causes them to close the application and restart the app (not the workstation)
To be more specific, prior to the lockup, the user observes an hour glass. No matter how long you wait, the hour glass never goes away. Until finally closing the app and restarting the app.

Looking for some suggestions on be best way to troubleshoot.
thanks for your help.

In what language is the POS app written? It may be a bug causing the problem.

C++ and JBOS, among others

Pardon me if I'm stating the obvious, but if the app worked in IE6 and it doesn't work in IE7, any chance to go back to IE6?

And IE7 isn't causing the app to close if the Poor User has to close the app. It amounts to the same thing, perhaps...

I'm not sure I can be of any help with this, having no knowledge of your app - it *is* your app, right? Or is this a 3rd-party app? If so, any chance to contact the author(s) for assistance?

I'm shooting in the dark because I have no idea what you have tried/done, sorry.
