Home folder randomly not mapping

I have our users home folders set to use the H: drive letter and it is mapped \\server\home\user.  For the majority of the time this maps perfectly fine but recently I've been noticing that the drive won't be mapped at all.  Typically I will just manually remap the drive and the problem will be solved.  But recently it has started happening more and more.  I've seen posts where the home folder will map to the containing folder (in our case this would be \\server\home) but this is not happening, ours just isn't mapping.  I know its not a permissions issue because I can just remap the drive manually and it works no problem.
Any ideas would be greatly helpful.

This home folder is AD, I do have about 6 or so other mapped drives using scripts.

What happens if you map the drive via the script?

I always find this is a more robust way to map drives.
