I am getting backup exec errors about VSS on a server and am told to check the event viewer. I am getting Event ID 12289 (error below). When I run VSSADMIN LIST WRITERS I get no list (output below). The VSS Service is running. What is going on and how can I fix this?

Thanks!

EVENT:

Thanks! Everything worked EXCEPT when I tried to start the MS Software Shadow Copy Provider service I received the error message saying the Specified Service has been marked for Deletion. Thoughts?

Try to run the attached batch file.

Rename the file extension to .bat and run the batch. Go to start > Run and type services.msc and check volume shadow service, start it and set it to automatic.
