How can I delete email from mail server using Outlook 2007.

I've tried.   "Tools/ Account Settings/ POP3 account/Change/ More Settings/Advanced/ Remove from server when deleted from Deleted Items.     This didnt work.

Would like to be able to delete selected email from the mail server.

It may be your mail server is configured to not delete the mail regardless of Outlook settings - try logging onto your POP3 account with http://mail2web.com and delete from there, see if that removes the messages. Is this on a corporate network or on a home PC connecting to an ISP pop3 account?

Yes, I can delete mail on server from mail2web.  This is a pop3 account (Earthlink) that I use for mail.  I can also go to Earthlink's site and delete mail from there, but if possible I would like to be able to do this from Outlook.  That I way I monitor mail through 1 mail program instead of 2.   This is not a corporate network.

Sounds like Outlook 2007 not playing nice - if you set it to not leave a copy of the messages on the server at all, or to delete messages older than X days, does it perform as expected? Note if it does work un-ticking "leave a copy of the message on the server" will nuke everything currently in the POP3 account.

Yes the setting delete messages older than x days works.  Didn't try unchecking "leave a copy of message on server" as I didn't want to wipe out messages.

I've done some testing from here and the "untill deleted from deleted items" setting works fine for me using Outlook 2007 and a couple of different POP3 hosts - could you try the following just to test:
Send yourself a couple of test emails, with subjects test1, test2
Download them to outlook
Move test1 to deleted items, and send-receive again
Empty Deleted Items, send-receive again
Check the webmail account and see which messages are still present.
I don't have an earthlink account, it may be that their mail servers respond slightly differently that others - do you have a different email client you can test with? On windows XP you can get Outlook Express by going to Start --> Run --> "msimn.exe", in Vista the alternative is Windows Mail.
