SQL Server 2008 Standard Installation Errors

Posted on 2009-05-06
Last Modified: 2012-05-06
I tried to install SQL server 2008 and got a few errors.  According to the logs it fails:
"Error: Action "Install_SqlSupport_Cpu64_Action" failed during execution."

The error occurs right after it tries to install 6 registry files. I have attached the log file. search for @, i placed them where the problem occurs.

I really needs to get this installed ASAP! Thanks for you help upfront.

It seems like it is a known problem when there is a beta version of a program already installed:

Pete_Zed: I don't have any beta programs installed. It is a fresh install from dell.

Oh, I see. In the article it mentioned about KB945140 and to remove that. Was that installed on your system?

I finally got it installed. I reinstalled the OS and then it worked like a charm.
