Whatsup Gold Question -> Newbie Questions
Posted on Whatsup Gold Forum as well, however several people have looked at the posts, no one has offered any advice.. I have all the confidence in the world in someone here will know the answers! ;o)
1) I have created several active monitors alerting me of when cpu and memory utilization hits over a certain percentage and when it comes back down.
What I would like in the email action is to insert what the actual reading is.. kind of like how the server event log shows it as a variable. i.e. \\server3\Memory\% Committed Bytes In Use has tripped its alert threshold. The counter value of 60.0287878838493 is over the limit value of 39. <- This basically is an alert for memory utilization over and above 40%.
Does anyone know how to do this?
2) With the specific email actions I have created on my active monitors, is there a way I can exclude those monitors from a higher action?
We have an email action that alerts everyone in our group if there is monitor triggered. The active monitors I created are for DBA use only and at this time there is no need for my group to know that the utilizations are over 40%. BUT when the active monitor is triggered at a utilization over 40% the action triggered is the specific dba email + the all monitor trigger email. All I want is the specific dba email.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Since every time our group receives the all monitor email our hearts drop because it states a server has went down (the agreed upon subject line) when really the threshold for my specific performance monitor has been triggered. Help.
Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me!

Hi There yashinchalad -
Unfortunately, v12 (what we are on) does not have the same options as what you are describing here. However I find it hard to believe that they would have done completely away with something like that. I will keep digging and trying to figure out what might have taken it's place and report back. Thanks for your help.

Hi All -
I am unable to get the suggestion for #1 working. The %ActiveMonitor.Payload variable is producing nothing. It is set at the monitor not at the device level. Unsure on what is happening. I have opened a case with ipswitch to see if they can point me in the right direction. I will report back.

hey TCLiven,

1)
Nope, i havent found an answer to this yet. (dont know about latest versions)
2,
i guess following option might help you.
configure-> notifications library> notification: group -> New group
Option available are: Notify all member, Notify first member.
since you use Email group ID for notification, you can arrange in such a way, DBA and IT gets necessary emails.
(think about us, we get SMS and now we are scared of message tone in phone)
hope it helps!
