Create destructible terrain in ActionScript

How could I create something like in: http://artbit.deviantart.com/art/Destructible-Terrain-Engine-39769589

I want to create a move clip that when it touches/hits bitmap data it erasses or creates a hole.

Are you using AS2 or AS3?
If AS2, you can check the source file of the example you gave from
http://www.deviantart.com/download/39769735/DTE_by_ArtBIT.zip
