pdf app background color

Hi.

I have a problem with pdf app background color. When I open a pdf created by ms word, pdfmaker etc. with Adobe reader -not in full screen mode- the page has a background appearring as thin black frame. I don't want this background color and Adobe reader has no option about changing app background. But when I open pdfs created by openoffice save as pdf option, the outline frame is thick and light Gray, so it is changable. How can I make my ms word created pdfs' frame thick and light gray. Is tehre any solution -including changing pdf file content manually?

I attached two pdfs has different bg colors to show the problem clearly.

Regards.

Hi

This is interesting, I opened both in Reader and it is exactly as you describe.

As you probably found out the only background colour you can change other than the page is for full screen mode. This works for the black framed when you set to gray in full screen but it reverts back to black in normal mode.

So I thought to myself I open this in Acrobat Pro (v7) to see if there are additional options. And guess what, both open as gray, see below...

I am not sure this is a document issue but just a way Reader handles it in 9, as an application design thing.

As you have protected the document I cannot really go much further but there is a difference in the Page opening on the gray one I suspect, but  would guess that other versions of Acrobat may simply open in gray anyway.

ASKER

thx capt.

I attached gray ones non protected version, if you want you can go further.

As you say I'm trying to fix, is it an app issue or document issue. Now I focus on pdf file content, page boxing properties, and I discovered gray one has just media box and the black one has both media box and crop box. But in both documents frame area is not reachable (out of the whole document). Confusing?

I'm using these pdfs in a web page as embedded, so frame color is important for me. thx again.

I am truly baffled what it could be, but it seems that it is version dependent. I have Acrobat Pro 9 here and it is like the Reader v9...

As you will not be able to determine which version your audience has I guess there is little you can do.

Sorry i am out of ideas, looking at the PDF has not given me any more ideas...
