Ok so it like windows base admin but they want a linux guy who has minimum of linux expericence ,

then i guess it would be very basic linux base question..

1. how do you change runlevel in linux
2. what command do you use to go system maintanence
3. how do you block all incomming trafiq via iptables but you just want to open some specifiq ip for ssh connection
4. how will you check samba log : /var/log/samba/logfiles
5. how will you set samba to run in runleve 3 or 5
6.what port need to open for samba
6  how will you create a share in samba which would be for a specifiq user only
7  how will you join samba with windows Active directoy, give me some idea
8 how do you install samba ??
9 where samba configuration file reside in linux ?? how will you edit that file ??
10, how will you set dns server address in linux ??

this is just the basic .. try to get some idea about samba and basic linux question

such as : copy, past, change permisson, create user, delete user ...  since they want only 3 month expericence, so it must be basic

how do you change runlevel in linux : From /etc/inittab file , set the defualt to 5 which gui
2. what command do you use to go system maintanence   : boot the server with liux cd then type linux rescue

. how do you block all incomming trafiq via iptables but you just want to open some specifiq ip for ssh connection

iptables -P INPUT DROP  [ which wil block every input]

iptables -A INPUT --source xx.xx.xx.xx -p tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT  [ open port for specifiq port]

Check this one for basic iptables rule
http://fosiul.co.uk/KnowledgeCategories.php?CID=71

how will you set samba to run in runleve 3 or 5 :

chkconfig samba on     it will start smaba in every run level but for 3 and 5 you will have to define

what port need to open for samba : 139

how will you create a share in samba which would be for a specifiq user only

in samb.conf file you need to create a share and do following

[accounting]

    comment = Accounting Department Directory

    writable = yes

    valid users = @account  -> so any one is account group will have access
    path = /home/samba/accounting

    create mode = 0660

    directory mode = 0770

 how will you join samba with windows Active directoy, give me some idea

just read this :http://www.howtoforge.com/samba_ads_security_mode_p2

you dont have to memorize every thing, just keep note of basic steps and the main command
