Ping one way, but not the other

Hey All, not sure if this is the right forum for this, but hopefuilly someone will have the knowledge.  I have an issue where when trying to ping another users computer on the same network, that I do not get a response (Request Timed Out) however if they ping my computer, they get a response.  I have checked the firewall settings and the virus software, and everything seems fine on both computers - i.e. same settings, etc.   I know it's a pretty general question as there's probably a thousand possible answers, but I would appreciate any input.

Sounds like it could be a firewall issue (i know you said you checked it). Try disabling any firewall information just for the heck of it and try again.

You can also try resetting the winsock catalogs and rebooting the machine:

start > run > cmd > netsh winsock reset
Sounds like your Windows Firewall is disabled but others are not.  I know you have checked settings on the PC's but if you are on the same subnet with no VLAN access-lists implemented and ping works one way but not the other, it has to be some sort of filtering being done on the PC's.
